Greed is Good?? /Whack a Boss Doll

“Greed is Good” This famous saying from the movie Wall Street where Michael Douglas plays a greedy stock holder. The movie is fiction but if the movie is so untrue why is this still how people on Wall Street fill and act 20 years after the movie was made? Just in February of this year it was found out that the stock holders on Wall Street were giving themselves $13billion bonus. The excuse was that they did all this hard word they deserve the bonus. How is it possible that this people deserve such a great deal of money when we are in such hard economic times? Billions of Americans go to work each day working hard if not harder than the people on Wall Street. Where is their bonus? Or the millions on homeless youth who deserve to go to school and then deserve to be able to go to a home. There are so many Americans losing their homes and jobs and the government says they are doing their best to get the economy back up and running. If the government really wants to get the economy back up they need to look at the people who are taking the money from the economy and the American people who need it. That $13billion put in the right hands could stimulate the economy maybe even create jobs and homes for the people who need them the most. As well as give raise to the under paid people who companies can’t afford to pay them anymore. Greed is good???? Says who??? The rich, who is getting richer while the poor is getting poorer, middle class is the majority of America, and that is slowly declining in to the poor class. If America stays at this pace there will only be two classes the rich and the poor so in my eyes no “Greed is not Good.”

If I could make a whack a doll toy I would make a whack a boss doll. It would be made for the employees who can’t stand their boss. The doll would be on every employee’s desk when your boss gives impossible deadlines whack the doll. When the boss is just an ass to you for no reasons whack the doll you can whack the doll all day. The doll would be custom made to look just like the owners boss. All the employee would have to do is send in a picture and the money and they would receive a customized boss in a little devil suit with a hammer to beat the boss all day. What a stress reliever it would be at work the employee could whack the boss all day.

What I think of the Legal System

I think the legal system is unjust we live in a world where money rules everything even our judicial system. Such as here in America where we are celebrity obsessed. We let people like Paris Hilton drive drunken numerous times and the longest she gets in jail is a month. If that was any other person without money they would be looking at six months and no license. Or our celebrities that sleeps with underage children and films it. They get off due to the lawyers they can afford high price lawyers does that give them the right to get off not guilty? No. it should be the same justice across the board for the rich and poor but it is not. I have a friend who was involved in a domestic violence issue with his girlfriend. He when to a lawyer to help him fight the charge in court (though he is my good friend he was in the wrong for laying hands on his girlfriend) the lawyer tells him “The truth about our judicial system is it’s who you know and how much money you’re willing to spend. You can make anything disappear with the right connections and green.” That probably was the most honest thing that lawyer said we see it every day just turn on the TV. The rich get off the poor get locked up it’s not pretty but it is the honest truth. “…..bribery consists of giving or taking money or property of value with the intent of influencing someone (usually a public official) in performance of his or her duty.” (Essentials of Business Law, Liuzzo, pg.34) This is considered illegal but it happens every day judges favor some lawyers’ sides more than others, etc... If you every sit down and talk to anyone who is in law they will tell you our legal system is just one big corrupt business.

MySpace Hoax

The MySpace hoax was one of the most terrible acts of online bullying. Any adult who is child enough to play on thirteen year old girl’s insecurities deserves to get criminal charges pressed agented them. Online bullying is probably worst than being physically bullied, the mental abuse the young girl was going though was so bad she felt she has to take her own life to end the pain. I truly believe whatever Lori Drew (the mother who set up the fictional sight) gets as a sentence is too good for her. Lori Drew at max will spend a few years in jail and pay a fine but the Meier’s (the parents of the victim Megan Meier) will never get their little girl back. The pleasures in life that parents look forward to such as their child graduation from school, getting married, and even having kids they will never get and nothing that will ever happen in their lives will ever bring that back. Just like in the movie Ascents of Mauls I feel the same way the newspaper reporter setup Michael Aglitter the mother Lori Drew setup Megan Meier. With the story coming out in the newspaper that Michael had something to do with the disappears of a public figure named Diaz, it completely ruined Michaels reputation he was an innocent man who’s family use to be involved in organized crime. The way that Lori Drew used the internet to slander and embarrass Megan Meier she said things like “The world would be a better place without you in it.” Knowing the that Megan Meier had suffered with weight issues as well as ADD Lori Drew know that saying these type of things to Megan would cut her deep. In all anyone who puts information out on someone or does anything to hurt someone in a mental or physical way should have criminal charges brought against them.

How I Feel About Lawyers

I feel most lawyers are unethical and one sided but to win cases that is the type of person they must be. Law is a cut throat subject to fight for due to the fact the world is not black and white but may shades of gray. This mean the lines between right and wrong can be very blurry. When I think of lawyers I think of a liar someone who would stop at nothing to win. Sometimes I think the world would be a happier place without lawyers, but then I realize the world would be unbalanced. Just like the world needs trees it as needs the dirty to grow the trees. However there are other lawyers who do try to do the right thing in life and fight for the good guy. The problem with those types of lawyers they never get to the top of their industry it is the sad and dirty truth about being a lawyer. Truth is told it is the same in every industry there are bad people who will stop at nothing to get ahead and people who try to get to the top the right way through hard work. In law the bad lawyers just stick out like a sore thumb.
